Music Trivia

Time to pull out those holiday sing-a-long books and begin humming festive tunes. Here are a few questions relating to holiday songs...

  1. Who saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus? (No, it's not "I".)
  2. What do you hear on every street corner? (Yes, "screaming kids" would be a good answer, but it's not what I'm looking for here.)
  3. Where was the man from Tennessee going for some homemade pumpkin pie? (Sorry, no pumpkin pie at Denny's.)
  4. What is the real title of the song that begins "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire..."?
  5. What will Dolly Parton have on when she gets home? (Now, now. This is a family show!)

Holiday Music (Reprise)

As mentioned in a previous posting, I've been searching for non-traditional holiday music. I've gathered several selections and have called off the search for this year. I'll call this list: "Favorite Holiday Music of 2005." All the songs are related, one way or another, to the holidays. I picked them mostly for the music so any themes in the lyrics are purely coincidental. Here goes, in alphabetical order:

All I Want for Christmas (Mariah Carey)
Baby It's Cold Outside (Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Jordan)
Believe (Josh Groban)
Christmas All Over Again (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers)
Christmas in the Northwest (Brenda Kutz White)
Do They Know it's Christmas? (Band Aid)
Feliz Navidad (Jose Feliciano)
Happy Xmas - War is Over (John Lennon)
Hard Candy Christmas (Dolly Parton)
Holiday Inn (Bryan White)
Last Christmas (Wham!)
Little St. Nick (Beach Boys)
Mele Kalikimaka (Jimmy Buffett)
Merry Christmas, Darling (The Carpenters)
Please Come Home for Christmas (The Eagles)
Same Old Lang Syne (Dan Fogelberg)
Santa Baby (Eartha Kitt)
The Gift (Jim Brickman)
The Most Wonderful Time of the Year (Johnny Mathis)
Washington Square (Chris Issak)
We Need a Little Christmas (Angela Lansbury)
Wonderful Christmastime (Paul McCartney)

A few others I might add if I can find them soon:

Christmas is All Around (Billy Mack)
Step Into Christmas (Elton John)
You Make it Feel Like Christmas (Neil Diamond)

I think it would be fun to have "Santa Super Sled" (from the movie "About a Boy"). Anyone know where to find it on CD? It doesn't look like it's on the soundtrack from the movie.

What color is "inch worm"?

My curiosity was piqued by the discovery that a new crayon color, introduced by Crayola in 2003, is named inch worm. What color is inch worm? I can't find anything on the "official site" about what the color actually looks like (and I'm not about to go and purchase a 96 count box of crayons), but this page has a picture which seems to answer the question. (Scroll to the second picture from the bottom.) By the way, the color was named by Kelly Schneider, age 11 (2003), from Marblehead, Mass.
